To throw the perfect pass, you first need to understand how to properly hold a stick. Lucky you came to the right place! your top hand should be about 6-8 inches from the top of the stick. Your bottom hand should be close to the butt (bottom) of the stick. You should have a relaxed but firm grip on the shaft. then place the stick about 2 inches off of your shoulder.
Square your body to where you are throwing to. Have your shoulders face the player you're passing to. keep your feet about shoulder-width apart. Step forward as you are throwing with your non-dominant foot. If you are throwing with your right hand, you will step forward with your left hand.Lacrosse Lovers

how to throw the perfect pass
having a good mental game as a goalie
being a goalie takes a lot of grit. it requires you to literally be able to be hit and get back up again. I personally am a goalie and find the mental portion of the game to be the hardest! the mental game is what will make or break you in a game. Being able to realize the ball had to get through 9-11 other people before it could reach you might sound cliché, but it's true! you're not the only player on the field. Another factor to focus on is that most of this game is set up for you to fail, especially in women's lacrosse, having an 8-meter shot, there is a 90% chance that you won't save it the game of lacrosse is banking on your failure as a goalie, and the key to success is to not allow for that to get you down!
Some things I do to stay out of my head! I say what is happening as it is happening or what I want you happen to when someone takes a shot. I will say shot, and when I want to make a save on an 8-meter, I will just say save, save, save so that I'm only focused on what is happening. I will wipe my helmet, and once I do that, I have to forget about what happened before. Lastly, I will hit the pipes to get any aggression out, but more importantly, to see where I am in comparison to the net to see if that will change anything.
A day in the life of a college lacrosse player
my day starts at 4:30 in the morning before the sun comes up. I begin my day by brushing my teeth, washing my face, and getting dressed for my first workout of the day. I head down to my car and drive over to the athletic center. My lift starts at 5:45 by riding the bike, then I do our programmed lift of the day, and then I end it with some form of cardio to keep up my conditioning for the day. after lift I'll head to our dining hall and have eggs and toast with my team. Then I'll head back to my room to get ready for my class of the day.
on this particular day, I only have one class. after my class, I head back to my room to get ready for physical therapy. I have a torn labrum in my left hip that I have to see a DPT for twice a week to stay in playing shape! After that, I will usually try and run up to our athlete-only food pantry and grab something to eat. Then, after all of that, I have practice from 5-7. After practice is over, I shower and get ready for bed, then finish up the rest of my homework. Rinse and repeat.
THIS IS MY ATHLETICS CENTER! And also, where I spend most of my day, ha-ha!

Men's Lacrosse vs. Women's Lacrosse
Men's and women's lacrosse come from the same place. the two sports are drastically different. the biggest visual difference is the gear worn by both sports. In men's lacrosse, they wear a helmet, chest pads, elbow pads, gloves, a protective cup, cleats, and a mouth guard. In women's lacrosse, they wear goggles, a mouth guard, and cleats. These differences are due to the physical contact or lack thereof. In men's lacrosse, they are much more physical than women's lacrosse. In men's lacrosse, they are allowed to body check and play more aggressive defense. In women's lacrosse, only controlled stick checks are allowed for aggressive contact; the rest of the game relies on finesse and positioning.
In men’s lacrosse, ten players play per team at a time. Men's lacrosse includes a restraining box and a shot clock that make the game fast paced. Women’s lacrosse uses twelve players and has free-movement rules, allowing for smoother transitions and wider field spacing. Because of these differences, men’s lacrosse often emphasizes speed and physical pressure, while women’s lacrosse focuses on finesse, ball movement, and precise stick handling. Together, these variations create two unique interpretations of the same sport, each with its own style, rhythm, and appeal.Women's Lacrosse for Beginners
Women's Lacrosse is "the fastest game on two feet." This sport requires teamwork and strategy. Women's Lacrosse is a less physical sport; women's lacrosse is more skill-based, which requires players to be more agile with more precise stick work. women's lacrosse plays with 12 people from each team: 11 field players and a goalie, so there should be a maximum of 24 players on the field at a time. these 12 girls make up a 1 4 3 4 formation of one goalie, 4 defenders, 3 midfielders, 4 attackers. There are a few different ways you can format the field, but this is the most standard. the goal of the field players is to use their sticks to cradle and pass the ball up the field and score on the 6x6x6 net at the other end of the field. The goalie's job is the use their stick and body to stop the ball from going into the net. in order to have a successful season in lacrosse, you must have a good understanding of the fundamentals of lacrosse. cradling while running keeps the ball tucked in your stick. Dodging allows players to get around their defenders. Being able to accurately pass is also a big part of the game. Being able to pass with accuracy is important being passing is how you get the ball up and down the field. Communication and teamwork are big parts of these tools that players use, especially midfielders who play both offense and defense. Whether you're a beginner learning to handle the stick or a fan watching from the sidelines, understanding these basics makes the sport even more exciting to follow.

lacrosse meme round up!
I, as a goalie, think this is very funny because, really, I'm one of the biggest problems for you on the field. if you somehow manage to get through everyone else, you're still going to have to be accurate in your shooting! And even if you do get an accurate shot, you're going to have to hope I'm not better!
i think this meme is so funny! Everyone always has a different version of what women's lacrosse is. this meme does a very good job at showing how everyone sees lacrosse and how it actually is! a lot of the people I play within the summer really do just go to the gym, tan, and play lacrosse.
